Skype for iPhone App Reviews

All this app does is try to grab every piece of info it can off your phone. Ridiculous. Can I just delete a contact from my profile? Nope. But couldnt be easier to add your entire contact list.

I have two active paid subscriptions and two paid numbers in different countries. As an American living abroad, I heavily rely on Skype to stay in contact with friends and associates back home. I ported my personal number to Google Voice and forwarded that free service to my paid Skype number. Up until the last few updates- everything work perfectly. Now Skype on my iPhone looks and feels like it was designed by college students. The app crashes all the time and is almost useless to me. I dont use ANY of the social features as 95% of the time Im calling and receiving calls from mobile and landline numbers. This is now very difficult, as my iPhones contacts (synced via MS Exchange) cant be accessed from the Skype app. I have to copy a number manually from my contact book and paste it into the app. There is an option to Sync contacts. Though, I dont want Skype to have write options for my valuable contacts and believe it may try to merge my Skype contacts into my personal address book. I just need a simple service that allows me to call numbers in my contacts. Im a paying customer. Bring back the old app.

I hate the new update. Skype just needs to work, which it does about 60% of the time. Usually there are lots of issues with the mic and picture. New app is so bad. Want to see whos online? Too bad, you can see moments, chats, and then take video of yourself. What if I want to see if my parents are online? Guess Ill have to text them to get on and call me! Then when you take a call on your phone, everything is turned off. I have at least a full two minutes trying to turn on the mic, turning on the speaker, THEN turning on the camera, screwing that up, showing the wrong image (usually my naked legs instead of my face) then finally my face...but they cant hear me. So we turn the call off and try again. Hate it hate it hate it hate it. Make skype for making video calls only and stop changing it. Do a deluxe version with all crap no one wants or asks for that screws up the basic video phone application people DO want!

I cannot even start a call ... It got so many options to make it cute, that it doesnt do the basics ...

The pc version could use some work

My review probably isnt going to change anything but Ill give it a try : This update is absolutely horrible, Theres no mood messages, I cant change my profile, I cant even see if anyone of my friends are online or not. Please go back, this is the worst update ever.

Extremely difficult to use and figure out. Literally no part of this app is useful now. Impossible to see whos online and the color themes are a cool idea but executed very very poorly...very disappointed.

Can not sign out.

Most of the time I cant answer or call people. I have to delete the app and re download it. Sometimes that doesnt even work. Please fix this.

My chat history, contacts...theyre all gone. The UI has also been altered in every way possible, which makes this SO HARD TO USE NOW. PLEASE CHANGE THE SKYPE INTERFACE BACK TO THE USER FRIENDLY, PROFESSIONAL, ORGANIZED WAY THAT WAS EASY TO USE.

I hate the update so much I took it off my phone. I am not 10 years old- there is enough social media elsewhere. Leave it to Microsoft to screw it up. Thanks. I will go back to it when they fix it or at least give you an option of the version you want to use.

I lost all my contacts and its such a hassle to figure out how to operate the app with the newest update.

Its not helping anything from the previous version! Really confusing and I could not even see many of my contact.... bad bad bad user flow

This is a really embarrassing app. I should not have to go to other apps to communicate, like at all. It refuses to send messages (sometimes takes 10+ minutes to do so) and of course by then it wont matter. Also refuses to send notifications. Really annoying, you seriously need to fix this now. ????

The new version is a joke. It was a good product and I have used it for years. It seems like they developers are attempting to make it a social platform for keeping up with friends and chats.

Stupid new UI! Why does Skype adds a smile to an every message?? It is horrible when mom writes "today gramma hurts" and stupid default smile. Whats a cruel joke?!
