Skype for iPhone App Reviews

Now when I call my friend and family on the phone (and I pay skype for that) they receive a call from "the Netherlands - or "Croatia" so they think its a scam - and before my number appears from us ... and the look of the new Skype is awful !

Skype is now virtually unusable. Took me ten minutes to figure out how to make a call. Navigation is unintuitive. Unbelievable they put this out.

Skype used to be a communication app, and a good one at that—but that was ages ago. Now it seems that Microsoft wants to peddle it as a social network, and it has stripped it of basic features that were not just useful, but fundamental for a communication app. The ability to see contacts online status and to filter online users would be among the most important features, but its now gone. Instead, Microsoft is suggesting that we should post highlights of our day on Skype, to share them with our contacts. Are you kidding me? This is all its about in the end—mining users for personal data. No thanks. Microsoft has a history of misunderstanding user experience and user needs, and this latest Skype update is no exception.

They didnt need to update the look. I loved how skype used to look it was simple and sleek. Now they messed it up making it complicated. Stick with the classics Skype!

Im impressed such a simple and free app texts and calls so well. Im in a place with zero cell service, but a decent wifi signal. My Skype worked perfectly and I was able to work with someone on the other side of the planet with the no interference or anything of that sort on the call. Amazing.

I love skype but this new "improved" update is terrible, everyones copying everyone. Skype is now like Facebook and Snapchat. This is terrible ? Editing this. Skype fix all of this. Go back to the way u were the way everyone loved it. Do another update to put the old design and old everything back everyone loved how u could put a mood message now u cant. Everyone loved how simple it was to see if your friends were online or not. Everyone loved how easy it was to use skype. I use skype almost every night because my fiancé is in the Army and we go to sleep on skype together, weve been using skype for a little over 3 years now, for the reason he has an android and i have an Iphone but i loved the older version much better, it was so easy to just call him or message him, or see if he was on. I hate skype now and will probably talk to my fiance about deleting it and switching to a different video chatting app. Hopefully just until Skype is back to the way it was if they decide to go back and listen to all of us.

The app has some dropped call and quality issues depending on wifi service but I have used this internationally and domestically for 3 straight years and it has been very, very dependable.

Contacts feature is terrible. I can no longer see if I am calling someone on skype or calling the phone number I want. I pay for a premium service to make international calls and now I have to type in phone numbers every time just to be sure I am calling the right number. This version is really awful.

Skype is, in short, no longer Skype as we knew it. Speaking of the mobile iOS app,it appears that the days of seeing which of your colleagues are online are over, skypes new priority#1 is color scheme, and… I simply cannot go on. Please change skype back to the way it was? Does your team realize that skype was the primary means for international communication, allowing myself and countless others to work with a team of international colleagues? Now, as weve previously seen with the demise of LinkedIn, Skype seems to have lost its way. Im asking you to correct this error andmake the previous version available – the Skype that we all knew and relied on.

Used to be able to call my contacts on either their skype name or their mobile - now cant seem to get access to their mobile numbers, so the mobile app is no longer functional for me. Goodbye Skype - will use WhatsApp only from now on.

Give us the option to degrade our Skype because it keeps crashing every minute

Terrible app. Not easy to understand where things are or how to use them. Cant post an away status or message from my iPhone. Programmers need to start thinking from a consumers pov. Im a millennial and Im not unfamiliar with apps and tech either. Design a user friendly app or keep losing people to slack.

I think this is terrible, now Im gonna use discord instead.

Ok I dont take time to write reviews, but seriously? Latest update was horrendous. The color scheme, the moving squiggly lines.....is Skype the new Snapchat???? Im honestly embarrassed FOR you.... this is the "cringiest" update Ive seen from a company in years. Know who and what you are and why you exist. Updates like these shows to your customers that you have no idea of your purpose. Its like a senile grandpa trying to be "hip"! Sad......

The "updates" dont seem to be improving the app. Its harder to find the features I need. Im also missing the video preview option. I would like to test the video before time for the actual call.

Just who asked for any of this? Who asked to put stickers on profile pictures? You cant even adjust the size of the pictures, at least as far as I can tell. Who asked for the highlights section, who asked for mood messages to be removed, who asked for any of what Skype has become... its just sad. I moved to Discord because Skype can no longer provide an enjoyable service.

What the hell is this? Who designed it and who approved it? This is so bad and dysfunctional. Not one thing is good about this. Its all bad. Just give us the earlier version with security fixes. No need to shove this down our throats. When can we expect something designed for phones, not tablets

Latest update is horrible. It visually looks like it took a step backwards and removed some good features. I really want to go back to the previous version and Im reading the same thing online on forums from many people who feel the same. I wish I would have read peoples reactions riot to updating.
