Just as title says, worst design ever

Clear conversations mostly, but thats Internet for you. The color scheme is nice.

I miss the old layout, there was nothing wrong with it.

This app is so wonderful. Its great being able to call all over the world. Thank you skype for making life easier

Horribly unusable. I hoped they wouldnt try to "fix" something that was working perfectly well before, but alas, Skype has been Microsofted. Basically, they looked at Instagram and dreamed that one day they could grow up to be cool and colorful too. So they gave their bored UI designers free reign to do whatever and the result is an Insta clone that makes it extremely difficult to do what you originally downloaded Skype for. Like contacting the actual person or group you are looking for. No, no, its clearly more important to share a recorded video to your profile than to have a video conference... its not like you opened your Skype instead of Insta/Snap to video chat with someone directly. Want to change your status to offline or away so youre not interrupted during a meeting? No, no, thats not what social media is about, you should be constantly connected and sharing. Oh, thats right! Skype isnt a social media app, it was a solid chat/video communication app I used for personal and work communication! Whoops. Looks like they want Skype free to die a slow death while they force all their business users into Ex-Lync/Skype for Business. Oh, wait, you mean theres no way to import my decade worth of contacts into Skype for Business? Can I at least keep my same ID so my contacts dont lose me on their list? Oh well. Microsofted.

For the last few weeks the app has been crashing way too much.

But it is not. Its very functional on my end and I actually like the change. The only thing I have a complain about is that "location" button. I keep pressing it by mistake when I just want to send the message through. Its in the wrong spot. Another reviewer had mentioned this too, so take note, Skype developers. Once that gets moved to another spot, Ill be all happy about this update, would happily rate this 5 stars. UPDATE: Great improvement on this update, but now please focus on moving the location button somewhere else, please! Its too easy to press it when sending a message.

Thanks for taking away all that made skype so good in the first place. It used to be simple and comfortable to use. Now its uncomfortable and ugly garbage crap. Skype team really messed this one up. Please just scrap all of your hard work, because the end product is total trash. Or atleast allow users to return to previous versions. For anyone who wants a comfortable msging or calling experience, just use discord.

Most unnecessary update, why did they have to update the look and feel of it? It looks so ugly and is very annoying to use. Especially when I want to send a message I accidentally click location every time I send a message. So annoying.

Literally what is the point? I used skype for skype, not as a terrible snapchat knockoff. If you want a good voice and text program, avoid skype.

Thanks for listening, Skype! ********************************** Previous review: The latest update for Skype brought a new look, but also removed the ability to tell who is online. Yahoo! did the same thing with their messaging service, which is why I decided to switch to Skype. Knowing who is online and able to receive messages is essential to an instant messaging app. Hopefully Skype decides to bring this back quickly.

Deleted it because it became unusable ever since the update. Why am I forced to make a microsoft account when my skype account used to work just fine? Now I dont have half of my contacts.

With a new update, Skype messed up their up. Previous versions of Skype were much more efficient. New version is not user friendly and irritating to use. Hold ability to accept calls seems to be removed, now user can only decline the call or answer and hang up the Skype conversation, which is most awful deduction which Skype could have made.

It asked for my email address to sign in, so I gave it. BUT that isnt the account I have been using for years. I cannot find anywhere to sign out so I can sign into my regular account. Going to be really mad if this update lost me my chat history for the regular account if I ever figure out how to sign back in ... The new version is pretty, but the fancier interface is really annoying to navigate. This update happened at the worst time ever, since I was in the middle of a big business transaction and I now cant continue the negotiations on my mobile device until I can find the log out.

In what seems to be a shift in targeting a new demographic, the "focus" of the app (if that is what you want to call it) is now a pile of confusing social features jammed into the new UI, which is a total mess. The simplicity of Skype is completely gone. Good luck with the exodus of current users. Ive dropped the service completely.

only get this app if you absolutely have to, its such a pain to navigate

Why always makes simple and easy things complicated!? Was fine and enjoyable and now its crap!

If I could rate 0 stars I would. Skype USED to be great but when they changed it recently it became so bad. I am deleting it and never using it again!!! The old layout was so much better and I loved Skype because it was a good way for me to talk to my friends but Im switching over to face time since skype doesnt listen. Bye, dont download!!!
