Very useful and practical.

Skype is one of my most used apps. Im using it everyday to chat with friends for hours, now its just become frustrating. Color scheme is pointless but I can live with it. Notifications dont work at all. I cant tell if Ive been messaged until after I send something. I cant tell when someones online. I try to send something and the voice recorder turns on. The "send location" is in a terrible spot. "Highlights" is pointless. Its become just so frustrating to use.

The app tries to be too "social media", the UI is a PITA and nothing like the desktop version. Also, none of my settings, history or contacts pulls over from my desktop version- its as if Im starting all over.

The updated app (which is pretty non-intuitive and odd) takes away your ability to change your status. If youre on the app, youre online. If you are signed out, youre offline. If you want to go "away" for a meeting? Too bad. Sign out, then sign back in - and youll have to type in all your details again to do it. Nope. This is such a backward move, but this is Microsoft, so Im not shocked, just disappointed.

Muddled up the whole purpose of Skype. Cannot even easily see which of your contacts are online! How do you see which of your friends are online in one list?

No issues for making phone calls internationally and its very cheap.

I like personally dont like the new Skype app update its a lot more complicated than it was and I cant see where to write how I am feeling the old one was a lot better and just fine and I wish I hadnt updated it ....?the new Skype app would be a lot better if you could send recordings from your phone to your skype I have recoding I cant do twice and totally wish I could send it to my Skype but it want let me if I could I would then think of giving it a higher rating ....

What happens to to common sense? We cant see user online status? Seriously ... Microsoft! Please go back to your 2 years old design - your fancy is non productive.

Keyboard and buttons are moving around on loading. Lag everywhere. Update is a piece of garbage.

The new interface and design update, while "shinier" looking, is a HUGE hit to the apps performance and usability. The Skype app now lags when attempting to do any action and feels much more clunky and cluttered. Sometimes messages sent through it are never received, which has never happened before. I wish there was a way to undo the update. The simplicity and smoothness of the older version was its main appeal as a messenger app.

Microsoft bought Skype and is wasting no time in remaking a perfectly usable platform into something messy and dysfunctional. Get out while you can.

Its the only app grandma uses. What else can I say about its usability?

Everything is jumbled hot mess with significantly reduced functionality.

The App just works & Sound Quality is GREAT

I dont usually write reviews, but the new version of Skype is so bad that it has motivated me to write my first ever app review. The entire app has been restructured and it is WAY MORE user unfriendly. Even marking a simple call is now a frustrating ordeal. Adding a new contact? Good luck itll take you forever. They also added all these additions you can download to your app... why? Skype was fine the way it was. Stop trying to make it "cool." I used to use Skype all the time, but now Ill have to start looking for an alternative

Its pretty impressive that this app breaks some of the most basic things in iOS. I actually like how it looks a lot. Stands out from the crowd. But I just dont get why some of these interface choices were made.

UPDATE 08/04/2018: Today it got stuck showing one unread message when everything was actually read. Deleted this piece of junk, it does nothing but irritates me. UPDATE 07/09/2017: Today when Ive been calling my daughter, it suddenly has changed its calling sound to some childish cacophony. So in addition to visual torture, there is a sound one as well. It looks like Ill have to uninstall it on the phone and stick to the desktop version. Design became worse in almost every aspect: - Bright irritating UI. This color craziness causes REAL PHYSICAL PAIN, I cant look at it more than 10 seconds. And it cant be completely switched off. Even with black & white theme I see that bright palette when I start calling. - Useless "highlight" and "capture" tabs, while for the calls I have to click on small button in the corner. - Big heart sign that covers part of the screen during video call that cant be removed. I want to see people Im talking to, not that bloody useless heart. - 2/3 of the chat screen is taken by frames and spaces, and only 1/3 with text. It is absolutely idiotic! In chat the most important part is text and emojis, not all that surrounding trash. Designers of this nonsense shouldve been fired and then sued for all the torture they made to the users, not to mention the money Microsoft has lost.

I agree with all people who hate the update. Wish I could use the previous version.

Before the update I had a great time with skype now I have a terrible app on my phone. The new layout is terrible group chats take ages to load. Before the current update it took no time to load group chats but now its take like fifteen minutes. It is truly shameful that an app like skype could go from something that could. Affectively communicate with people around the globe to now struggle with communicating from someone who lives in the same state as you. For people looking for an app to talk to people this is not the one it instead is a terrible excuse for a app.
