i use it for calls with my girlfriend and its amazing even though it crashes occasionally. better than any other in my opinion

Skype used to be one of my favorite messengers. Now tons of old features I used are gone, the interface looks terrible and can be difficult to read, and the entire app has essentially become a Snapchat wannabe that I have no desire to continue using, as many others have said. I downloaded Skype to use Skype, not a terrible version of Snapchat.

Terrible! Im not getting notifications from personal chats, the new update took what Skype was originally and threw it out the window. It was a simple, barebones communications app, didnt need all this new, complicated, trendy BS that Snapchat or any other modern social media has, I dont use any of it. Im not interested, and if I were, Id go to a different app. Get rid of all this crap and make skype simple again!

I dont like it... even I can not to chose my status and I am offline and it appears to others as Online! I like the previous one!

Skype has become the worst app for communication.

Skype used to be the greatest app out there for communications. Somewhere along the path they lost focus on whats important and created a horrible app that rarely works. After this update I cannot call anyone. Absolute junk. I dont need another social media app and I dont need pretty colors. I need calls to work.

Horrid UI. Who cares about capturing photos. Focus on core functionalities. Awful UX. The second update is symbolic vanity. How you managed to essentially destroy an apps core functionalities beats me. If i wasnt connected to so many people, Id walk away.

please bring back the old skype, i hate this one, its a pain and even worst in the computer. I cant find my contacts , i have now 2 accounts !!!!!!! i hate this !

3aug17 I am able to use the app better now. Still need to get the process working of adding phone numbers from my phone contacts. Thank you for your efforts. I will keep evaluating. Upping from 1 to 2 stars. @MarcelSpitz 24jul17 Today I made another discovery of a really bad bug. I was not able to send a text message to a phone number that I have sent many text messages to in the past. At the bottom of the screen it says: "Messaging unavailable." That is another never function that is just not working anymore on this new version. Again I kindly ask you to restore the previous version which worked fine. 19jul17 Two days later still no action to improve the worst roll out of Skype ever seen. Do you guys have no feeling for quality and the customer? Btw I pay for my Skype, so this is becoming a disgrace. Roll back to the previous version NOW!!! 17jul17 Microsoft this is really bad. Please contact me to show you how bad. There is absolutely no need for themes and sexy colours. Those are very distracting for professional use. Also I have not been able to connect a regular phone number while on a group Skype call. Show me how I can do that. I need that every day!!! Just about every screen hangs. Cannot work. Losing business!!! Please fix within 24 hours or tell us how to go to the previous version. Thanks. @marcelspitz

New redesign is not intuitive or functional.

Calls dont go through, few of the updates are usable if the other part hasnt dorme the updates, the sounds are obnoxious, and altogether I want the old Skype back

This app now looks like something released 10 years ago. Poor design. I cant see which contacts are on line. Cant change my status. Cant find anything. Seriously, whoever did this, please fix it.

Wow these guys are real goofballs. Not sure what they were thinking but some articles suggested they were going for the whatsapp/Facebook/instagram Stories model and trying to turn this phone app into some social platform? Focus guys, focus!

I was apparently getting multiple messages from family for the past few days only to know that I was signed out of skype for some reason. I mean come on. At least let me try to identify which account I am because I dont know what my password and email is anymore. Why would the app just sign me out without my permission? This is ABSOLUTELY stupid and I want help getting my account back.

This last Skype update wasnt just disastrous in the UI department, you just broke contact syncing. Now to call a new number, I need to copy & paste it from my contacts because Skype only syncs once. This was the worst update I have ever seen in any iOS app.

Stop bitching about a new interface an learn how to use it!

I switched back to Skype from Facebook messenger , the quality of the audio and video 9/10 . Room of improvement is to try to reduce the data usage , while keeping the quality . Open it free for North America during Christmas to call parents landlines.

I had been a loyal Skype user for over a decade including multiple personal and corporate accounts that I have paid thousands of dollars for over the years. The new interface for iPhone is so cumbersome and hard to navigate that it is virtually unusable. Whomever at Skype and Microsoft thought this was a good idea to fix something that wasnt broken should lose their job. The previous interface was simple and clean and followed the KISS principle. It opened easily and was simple to start/answer a chat or phone call. Because this new app is so bad I downloaded and started using Google Hangout. I find it faster and the voice and audio quality far superior. Sorry Skype you guys blew it!

While this new update is faster, make the tutorial go away for good if not done. Since microshaft has gotten skype all versions gave gotten worse. Cut out the bloat give us back non MS quality skype, the one I started on.
