Skype for iPhone App Reviews

After the update this summer (which happened without my interference, as it looks) I am deeply disappointed with the new Skype. The statuses which we useful are not available now; calls wouldnt go through at a first try; the new feature with swipe-and-make picture is absolutely superfluous; I dont like new sounds, either. I feel like the new version is a step back in usability. Can you unwind the film? Give us the previous skype back, or give me a choice.

Pls, use App before release, its impossible to do anything now.

I use it mainly to communicate with a couple of people who live abroad, and it mostly does a great job. Most of the time the quality is great. Good app!

I for one love the app. People complaining about it looking unprofessional, messages taking 20 minutes to send and all the complaining in general… What do they expect for free?! For one… Professional? Really? Its Skype, for keeping in contact with friends. Im sure there are other "professional apps" that would suit those needs better. As for messages taking 20 minutes to deliver, sounds like a connection issue on those persons ends; such as low connection on the Wi-Fi/how many bars they have at that time and other their carrier. I never have those problems, my messages are delivered quickly. I think the app is just fine… All you have to do is pay attention to what youre doing and where youre touching. The app works great for me, and I have a lot of fun using its features. Good job!

One word - why? This new version for the phone is absolutely, absolutely terrible! Cant see who is online anymore, contacts with phone numbers only are nowhere to be found, their numbers dont show and therefore cant be edited... what is going on? Who did Skype pay to be so screwed with this update? Please bring back the previous version!!!!!

Very Good Alternative

Skype works for me most of the time, but sometimes it randomly drops calls or the calls just dont go through.

The new update has several things about it I dislike - the user interface is clunky, for one, and seems like Microsoft is trying too hard to become a Snapchat with voice calls. The inexcusable event that led to my review however is that when Skype calls are interrupted with audio (say, from an alarm going off) theres no way to resume the call without having to hang up and call back. Aka, no way to take a call off hold. This is poor planning. Seriously just considering taking my business to Discord or some other actual functional site instead. Im not saying revert everything back - Im saying dont release an overly buggy and clunky app and say its "new and improved". Fix the issues.

Disappointed that what once worked now doesnt . Help in correcting is difficult if not impossible.

Crashes every 5 minutes. And you have to re install

Not easy to use, always a problem with my payment... I cant update the payment method since I changed my card. Id been paying through apple touch for months and its not changing still.

My wife and I can talk from here to Germany whenever we are apart. And your app especially with the recent updates is fantastic! We have clear sound quality and clear video!

Best for video call only with bad network

Ive used Skype for years and years and have never had these issues. Ever since the update Ive gotten several glitches but Ill leave that for last. What I really want everyone to read (and hopefully the developers) is that the update has caused my messages to randomly stop sending! Its not every single message but it happens often throughout the day that I have to wait lol 10 minutes because my messages refuse to send when my wifi is perfectly fine and so is phone data and everything. Its super annoying! My friend starts to ask hey whered you go why arent you answering? How frustrating. Then, the worst glitch happened this morning. Im using skype just fine and then suddenly it crashes. Im like okay whatever and I try to open it again but crashes in one second. It crashes at the blue screen with the wiggle line. No matter how many times I try, Skype just refuses to open! Ive restarted my phone several times but nothing! Its a skype issue not a phone issue! FIX THISSS!!!!! I literally cant use skype anymore it wont open! PLEASE FOCUS ON THOSE TWO PROBLEMS!!! Now for the minor glitches: sometimes when I click send this huge world map pops up asking me to send my location. Like no thanks? I just wanted to send my message. Another thing that happens when I try to send a message is that voice recording message thing pops up and I gotta cancel it constantly. And last but certainly NOT LEAST, the feature that lets you know if the person is active or seen 40 minutes ago is not always accurate. My friend could be typing and it still says they were seen 20 minutes ago. Thats so stupid. Please fix these issues! Dont ignore your users complaints because if you do skype will end as we know it!

Theres nothing that I can think of that I like more about this update and so very many things that I dont. Can we have a time machine and go back please? Difficult to locate calling. Hard to find contacts and their statuses. Etc. everything you want is buried. Everything you could care less about is in your face. Please, dont reinvent the wheel.

What was the purpose of this update? Oh yay we can put rainbow emojis on messages to react to them. Thats definitely worth overhauling the app! Huge disappointment. I wish there was a 0 star option.

I tend to never write reviews for apps but I had to for this one, the latest update to this is absolute garbage. 1. Why did they remove the ability to set mood/status messages? 2. Why get rid of the ability to access your iPhone contacts list when on the phone dial number screen? 3. Why change the UI so drastically that it now makes less sense than before!!? The last version was light years better. Not worth getting this version of the app if you plan to use it for anything but Skype to Skype user interaction. This is useless to me now when trying to quickly make calls to international numbers. Please fix it!
