Skype for iPhone App Reviews

I love Skype! Honestly, I do. I use it to call and text friends and family that I normally couldnt. But even before this update Skype was working horribly for me! My friend that lives states away that I cant connect with! I dont know why! It never connects! And most of the time when someone actually DOES message me, it never shows until weeks, or even months, later! My boyfriend that was on a trip in Mexico, couldnt even message me because of Skype!!! And it also never connects!!! I used to love Skype. Wat happened?! I honestly dont know if any of that is fixed in this new update. Why?! It wont let me sign in!!! My Wifi is fantastic, and it keeps saying I dont have internet. Its super Annoying, especially when I really need to get in touch with someone. Idk if this is happening to anyone else, but plz fix, or at least tell me what is going on!!! Skype is still a great app, but its with some major issues. Ik u guys can fix it!!! Good luck! This is totally useless and not the same Skype, I cannot even get my computer skype contact in here and if they wrote me I will never get any message on my phone. This is the worst update ever done

App is much improved. Beautiful interface although overall functionality is very similar prior to the overhaul. I am in the US for 6 weeks and had to call my family who were traveling around Europe and when they went back home to the UAE. I loaded my account twice with money to call them when they did not have an internet connection. At one point I had an emergency and knew they were traveling in Europe, but thank god for Skype credit and being able to call a phone. Im sure it wouldve cost me and them much more if I called from a US carrier and it would have been outside my plan. Thank you Skype (Microsoft) for giving me comfort in calling my family whenever I need.

The quality of the calls are 100% better than normal iPhone calls!

After the update I cant send any messages on the app. I can receive them and calls but am unable to send! Now the app wont even download!!

Horrible horrible horrible redesign of this app. Why would they make it so incredibly complicated and difficult. I am no longer going to use Skype and going back to FaceTime instead at least I can use that still!

Less focus on the color and themes, and more focus on usability and intuitive interface would really help this app. Calls now default to speaker. Who thought that was a good idea? Should be more professional in appearance and simpler to use. And I already gave a review, but it now asks me after every call to rate the app.

Skype is great

Im verrrryyyyyy upset, I have lots of old chat logs that Ive had for years with lots of important messages!!! I need those back asap! Ive been looking all over customer service and all they say is to sign out and back in! They have no solution! They literally lost all my stuff and probably for lots of other people too! I want my chat logs and contacts back!!!!!!

I think I speak for a lot of people when I say "we want the old Skype back". This version is just bad all the way around. This is a clear example of fixing something until its broke.

That is it, I am moving to Google Hangouts and will tell al my friends and family to move too. A good platform and community destroyed by the same people who thought Windows 8 design and the office ribbon was a good idea. Everything is in wrong place and it is impossible to receive large files and to remove chats or to see who is online. Any UX testing done? People invested in Skype phones can throw them in the garbage, they wont be able to connect anymore. Maybe some lawyer will start a class action. I will join with pleasure.

so frustrating seeing an IM hours later. after i was never notified on the device i was on. wth skype team. worst app ever

Microsoft: you completely RUINED Skype.

this is just becoming yet another snapchat / instagram / whatsapp story mode clone... i had a feeling that microsoft made a lot of good decisions recently, but looks like they put the bad decision makers into the skype department ?‍♂️ i rarely use skype to video/voice calli other skype contacts, but mainly to call german landline/mobile phones from overseas, using skype credit. that is now really hard. no, i dont want to send all my contacts to microsoft servers! and yes, i want to be able to select a contact from my address book and just call them. yes, its that simple, and yes it used to work really well with the previous versions. now im copy pasting numbers from my address book into skype, trying to not accidently get into story mode... thats just ridiculous ?

This new version is the worst thing ever! Please bring back the old version!

Bad design. Convoluted. Navigation is vague, badly written. Cheesy corporate music & graphics. Death-knell for software & company.

Where to begin, if like me you woke up with an important call in the pipeline to this new update youd know how i feel... The latest update looks like an unfinished art school project. The UX is counterintuitive, the design is horrid - i get it skype/microsoft you like snapchat and wana be just like it, you wana be pretty and use pretty colours and simple geometry! But why at the cost of functionality?!?! But come on! At least roll out somethin useable! This is such a bad update. If there is an internet God, please pass this message to the big wig who okayed this horrid update. Pls pls pls make this go away

The only app that is cheap and awesome for communications

Loudspeaker is on by default ...in office it produces a lot if sound ...and most of the contacts are not showing in skype contact ...very bad..please switch to lower version
