The most terrible Skype version of them all

ive used skype all my life, but it got so bad i grabbed my group chat and hopped over to discord. just sayin.

I dont like the update it looks confusing and I like the old one better.

I love this app. Even though apple already has FaceTime it only allows you to do it with one person at a time and only with people who have an apple devise, but Skype allows you to pretty much FaceTime more than one person at a time and they dont need an apple devise. Plus its all free!

I hate the new version!!! The user interface is terrible n confusing! This will push me over the edge n I m looking for alternatives! I hope more ppl will do the same! Bye Skype!

Skype use to be amazing. Now its mediocre service and useless. Very poor app design and computer app design. Very poor connection, cant even call my own phone to retrieve my voicemail while out of the country. Very poor connection and design. Never ending drop calls ever since Microsoft took over. Use to be amazing and reliable. Ive been using Skype since its early days. Very disappointed.

Previous update was excellent, new update is everything wrong!!!! Cant control my availability colors and incoming calls, please return old skype back

Quality is pretty good but some features just disappeared like showing "offline", I cant see it. The sound is much better

Ive been using Skype as my predominant messenger and am no longer receding messages until I actually go and click on a conversation. This completely defeats the purpose of having a messenger program. Of the programs I could be using, Skype can now only really offer me emojis and the ability to like someones message? I dont want SkypeBook. I want Skype. This is beyond frustrating.

Reasonable cost. Easy to use. As a foreign traveler, I use it to call ahead about arrangements and with questions. Indispensable!

The update made everything that was already possible more difficult... its unnecessary and it is common for my messages to not send causing me to have to restart my phone and Skype. Real big step down guys!

I dont know what happened between versions but I wish I could roll skype back to a previous version. I dont get calls, I cant make calls. Disaster.

Such a disappointment

8/13/17: Ive kept skype this whole time, praying they fixed it as its the only app that works for what I need. The biggest problem I have is that at least twice a day it takes more than ten minutes for text messages to send. I have to cancel them, get on my iPad (with the old m Skype app) and retype and resend the message. Then suddenly my phone app will work? Its irritating. The latest update restored some key features like seeing who is online, but you still cannot set your own status. The useless features like capture and highlights are still sucking up memory. The new "classic" theme is definitely an improvement and Im grateful Skype listened. That being said, I still miss the old skype. It was so much simpler and easier to use. I hate that this new skype displays every single chat Ive ever had on the opening menu instead of letting me choose which to display. Older reviews: Has it ever occurred to developers that the reason people use different apps is because they have different features???? I loved how simple and clean skype was! Now theyve gone and tried to mash Snapchat and instagram and Facebook messenger into some unholy mess of an app that looks awful and is incredibly distracting. I do not want this update. It is not user friendly, it looks terrible, and really no one wanted this. UPDATE EDIT Ive been using this updated skype every day for about twelve days now and while overall I still think its a horrible design, there is one thing like about it- the ability to see whether or not messages have gone through. I hate he squiggly line but it is nice to have some kind of notification that a message is sending/when it actually is sent. Sometimes it takes a while for it to send and idk if the person Im sending it to is online... but at least I know when it goes through? That being said, I gave it a fair shot. Two weeks is enough time to get used to an app update. And I still want the old one back. I really do get what they were going for, but Im so not interested in being a "cool hip millennial" and I feel bad for professional and older users. I hope they listen to the feedback and come up with a viable solution. Not everything about this is complete rubbish but most of it is just noise. I hope they find a way to integrate the two well, and Ill keep using skype with the hope that they do.

Why

Old skype app was clunky and could be slow, new update has a modern look and is much more responsive. The emoji mixed with text looks less awkward now too it?is?great?

The update made the skype worse. Very user unfriendly and became disorganized.

Fix the call. I have to exit out of the app when someone calls me because it wont let me "Join Call". It wont let me call back if I click join call so its annoying to exit out of it.

The new design adds some modern flavor to the app.

The latest mobile design was ugly af and awful to use. The good part: it finally got my team moved over to Slack! So, yay?
