Skype for iPhone App Reviews

I loved Skype how it was before SO much, and kept my whole family in it despite people switching to other apps, because it had a super clean and functional layout. Now every time I want to hit "send" the slow location screen comes up, because someone put such a rarely used feature right at the spot where the send button was and now the send button is moved above that - are you guys even user-testing??? Its so disappointing, Im looking for alternatives now that dont annoy me while using its main functionality... :( Very sad to loose the old Skype that everyone loved so much :(

Skype has worked well most of the time. It has saved me a lot of money on long distance call. Great work!

This new update is the worst update to date. Nothing works! The majority of the time, messages wont go through. The app crashes constantly, and it now makes unnecessary spelling changes to make users sound illiterate. If you add dashes, stars, or other symbols, Skype tells you messages failed until you delete all those symbols. Another issue is when it does send messages, it sends duplicates of the same message multiple times before crashing. The layout is obnoxious. Skype used to be a lightweight program, but now theres too much going on because its trying too hard to be "edgy" and "fun." The updated version lags something terrible. If I didnt need Skype for work, I would delete this junk on move on to a different program because this app is unusable.

I have used Skype for 3 years. I am glad that they are change the look of Skype, but it is just horrible to release a messed up system. 1. Notification is messed up 2. It takes too long to load up message and during cross platform it take 30 min to load a single message I hope they fix all the bugs

I love the new update for Skype so much easier to do the video calls the only thing is that when you exit Skype to check something you cant see the other person.... They still see you but you cant see them

The new Skype update is horrid. The user interface is unintuitive, and has removed many of the smart features that had previously made Skype functional. For example, instead of being able to move my own image to a more convenient location on the screen, I can now send an emoji of a throbbing heart or a happy face waving. Clearly that was more important. Please change it back has now become one of the worst apps I have ever used.

New Skype looks fine--we will adapt. Still so thankful for no forced read receipts. BUT with it users lost some options we had on the old version. Please bring back: -Online statuses that match desktop statuses (Online, Invisible, Away, etc.) so users can be more specific about their status. Please allow us to actually set status on the new Skype -Muting certain conversations, not just a master Mute on the new Skype -Hiding, rather than just deleting, conversations on the "Chat" screen Also, theres a noticeable lag on the delivering of messages. Frequently, messages take too long to be sent using the new Skype (desktop Skype is fine, so not a wifi problem.) Basically, if you want to overhaul the aesthetics, fine--but dont take away the control users had.

Where I can see and change my status? This app is not usable without that.

Better. Now I can see whos online. But still no more stars because of this huge mistake.

What the hell? Why doesnt it work on iOS 8.4? Offers to update, but on the App Store thats the latest version, so I cant update. Dont offer me to update iOS, I love it as it is.

Still cant see whether contact is online or not! Even inside a chat sometimes online status is unavailable. Please get rid of the highlights - its a useless stupid mocking other social networks.

Status is missing, hard to see who is on line. Fix it up or sell it back to the previews company who owned that before.

The one thing Ive always connected Skype to since the 6th grade was that pleasant ring. My main complaint might be a weird one, but I absolutely with every morsel of my body hate the new Skype sounds. The ringing especially but even the connecting sounds literally make me uncomfortable. I understand maybe they are supposed to sound more modern. But Ive been using Skype literally for the past 8 years & heavily the last three (like a daily basis). I loved how friendly & pleasant the ringing was. I always use it late at night and I HATE the new one. PLEASE at least give us the option to use to old one or not. It doesnt even seem like Skype anymore without it. I dont mind the new interface, its a lot different but I understand the company wanting to be more modern like social media. I like how you can choose a light or dark theme as well. Just please get rid of this God forsaken ringtone!!!

I agree with the other reviews since the update. Very frustrating and I have also been using Skype for the last 7 years. It was easy to use previously now very confusing and overly complex. Please bring old features back.

I love Skype. This App is great.

Skype was sketchy at best before the update but I overlooked it because after all its free. Now with the update my account and all contacts have been wiped and I was forced to start over. Lost all my contact info and conversations. My kid and I were using it to call each other off his tablet. Guess Ill just get him a phone and stop using this all together.

Absolutely hate the new version. How do I turn myself offline? They aimed for simple but its cluttered, not intuitive, couldnt care less for highlights, previous version was a million times better.
