Thanks for trashing skype Morons! DELETED!! How stupid of a changes, Did they hire an idiot from instragram to destroy Skype... never again

Im a Software Engineer... trying to help my dad who had no problems with the prior skype... use the most basic functionality of adding a contact "FROM MY PHONES ADDRESS BOOK". Not from bots, not from Skypes global address book, etc. and make a call . After an hour of searching online and being unable to accomplish this seemingly simple task. I decided to write this review. Dear Mr Softy - Please higher a UX engineer or maybe bring in a few folks off the street because this once wonderful app is now absolute crap!! Time to move forward with a paid google voice account.

I just got the app again after so long... and Im not allowed to make an account on my iPod... it wont send the code to my phone number... and when I try to log into my old account it says error... I used my email.. I shouldnt have to have to use a phone number... pls fix this

What is wrong with the latest update?!

I feel like this new batch of 3-4 star reviews are planted, theres no way former users like this terrible version of Skype, its crap. Not user friendly, ugly and useless new aesthetics, my messages get delayed, no emojis, no friends list, the interface is awful and odd to navigate, overall if give it an F-. Dont update, save yourself.

This new version is not only ugly, gauche, and a desperate grab by Skype to look sleek and cool but like many systems that put aesthetic before function completely unusable. All the swiping now takes you to different menus instead of back to chat selection, the apple/iPhone autocorrect tap no longer works, as Skype decides you just wanna HIGHLIGHT the word instead of fixing it like in EVERY OTHER APP. Not only is the white text on blue bubbles harder to read (heres looking at you iMessanger) but every other theme looks like someone vomited a CalArts students wet dream onto a design interface. The new S loading symbol looks like someone steam ironed a snake and then got it drunk, and the cute wiggly lines that surround a picture as it sends are trite at best. No longer do /mes have any impact as they show up as a minimized text instead of the loud proclamation they used to be. Heres a hint Skype, not only did no one WANT those 3 second reaction clips from the previous version, but adding a functionality to add random emotes, send gifs, and random images is not a functionality that anyone was asking for nor wanted. Making any back swipes switch to that menu instead of the chat screen is an affront to anyone with muscle memory. The only positive I can note is I can now send multiple pictures at once from my camera roll. At least we have that. But still, this update is a horrible horrible mess and if I didnt need Skype to communicate with a few Discord-less people you could bet your sweet buns Id have deleted this app and salted the Earth instead of putting up with this disgusting wreck of an update.

"Were listening to your feedback". This statement is both laughable and insulting to the overwhelming majority of users, who have told you that this update is an unmitigated disaster. Listening to feedback would mean that you would roll it back immediately. Anything short of that is on the contrary very much like flipping a giant bird at your faithful user base.

The new layout is difficult to navigate and not easy to see what a users status is. The worst part is that when I try to call another person that is using Skype on the computer the call doesnt even go through! It keeps saying call failed. Skype used to work perfectly fine. It wasnt necessary to make these changes. Cant even call my family because of these horrible failed calls.

Update New release no better just plain awful And impossible to easily use. As said I use the subscription version and do not need or want the trash that makes up the new Skype. Typical Microsoft It aint broke but they "fix it"! I have been using Skype paid version since before Microsoft purchased them. I have tolerated the change made became see the basic operation was still the same This last upgrade is absolutely terrible. I hate it and will look for an alternative app to use once my subscription runs out. They should fire the team who came up with this version. Any way to get old one back ?

Updated review: As I promised Im updating my review after seeing the update and Microsofts steps towards positive change. Im very pleased to see people united & voiced their displeasure and made Microsoft take an action & Im very happy with Microsofts stance in correcting their mistake rather than fighting public, as users are important part of the whole experience. I changed my raising to 5 star as a complete support for their willingness to listen to us users but you do need to fix many more things. If possible, please dont forget to try lowering the long distance costs. . . I understand you dont want to fall behind other messaging apps, but they try hard to get where you are. -You need to bring the status back -You need to bring the logo back -You need to change the font colors -It would be much more useful if you integrate with other apps rather than competing with them. -Make the cost for long distance cheaper ($.25/ min is really high) . Hope I see all above changes & Id gladly come back & change the review.

Unfortunately since the update calls very rarely work. I generally have about 10 - 15 minutes of trying to call somebody and having them try to call me before itll even ring. Upon ringing its a gamble whether the recipient is notified before the call hangs up automatically. Both the person Im calling and I have both had skype open the entire time and just watch "missed call" show up without ringing on the recipients end. Not worth using anymore. Update: I see there was an update since I posted this review. I havent had a chance to test it yet, but when I do Ill update this post again :) Update 2: Finally tested a bit. My friend and I are able to connect when I call but not when he calls. Bumped it up to 3 stars since its technically functional. The sounds are also obnoxious. I dont know how anyone listened to the connecting or ring back sounds and thought theyd be a good fit.

All messages delayed the message my friend sent me last night I got in the morning!!!!!! and hard to use the video! Small icon, who designed it? I dont like the Skype UI and UX design! Totally junk! Even cant see the status who is away or online or offline! I will try to use other social app! Goodbye Skype!

Why Microsoft doesnt listen Customers ? Probably they do not need us. Does someone know how to get the credit refunded? probably the only way to have Microsoft listen to their customers ....

We asked to have the "status" brought back. You listened partially. Now I have a green dot showing who is available to chat but that isnt the case. The program seems to be very slow at updating to see whose available and not available. Example: 3 am I look to see whose available to chat, one contact I know who isnt available at that time shows available and it doesnt update for 15 minutes. It would be nice if we can change our own status. Id like to be able to change mine to away or available or offline or invisible. Id like to be able to see whose online without being shown as available to chat. Kinda like the invisible feature of the old Skype. Why do you show how long ago someone last viewed their Skype? That makes no sense to me. All of the fancy highlights, finds and captures features seems useless to me. I dont utilize them. The icons for contacts, videoing, calling, etc... needs to be a little bigger. They are still way to small. Time stamps for each individual message would be wonderful again. This was very useful. Seeing a "sent" message under our messages was a handy feature as well. Now I dont know if my message was sent or not. Id also like to see a feature of if the message was received and viewed by the person Im messaging. The space where you type a message at seems to only show 4-5 lines of message being sent to other person. So much wasted space still at the top and bottom of the screen. Ive also found out that when youre using it on your phone if you have the phone settings to auto-lock after so much time or if you have the app open and close it out it puts you into an "away status" as soon as you close out the app or if your phones backlight turns off. How terribly frustrated. Because even though Im available to chat now my contacts thinks Im no longer available to chat.

I will move on to better platforms before I use the new mobile Skype

Whats wrong with you ppl? What are you guys thinking? Why are you just making everyone mad with every change supposed to be a better and new advancement on this so wrong update? Why just dont you listen to your customers? Its clear that everyone is unhappy with this "new" and "non sense" update! Why you insisting and forcing ppl to deal with your bad decision? Just humble yourself, and bring back the Skype how it was! Simple as that! Lets see if you listen...

Thanks for changing skype to only make it useless...all my contacts gone and cannot see all messages, not pleased at all
