Real bad

I used to love Skype for its simple ability to call and text with friends. Now its got all these weirds things like highlights and following and etc. Please change back to what Skype used to be.

Buying credits still? I honestly dont understand why Skype still exists when there are so many other, better, and free products available. At the very least, calls should be free in North America. Until then... I can be found using Hangouts, Google Duo, Sudo, etc etc etc.

Well, the new version is nearly unusable. There is no longer a way to see if my contact is online or not. So, if it is not - the call just drops. The convenient feature to press the call button and select alternate landline or mobile number for the contact is gone. Now it can just dumbly call a skype id that is offline and tell you "call failed". Now I have to go to contacts to call a landline number. But guess what? There is no contact list in Skype anymore! So, instead of the list of contacts I registered as my Skype counterparts, the thing brings up all of my phone contacts. I have to scroll through a few hundreds of entries to reach the one I need! Or key-in a name in search pane! Incredible!!! Needless to say there are no contact Favourites or any other way to group frequently used contacts and keep them on top of the list. But surprises do not end here. When I finally reach the landline number of my contact who happens to be offline at the moment, the program merrily suggests "Invite to Skype"! The damn thing does not recognize he/she is already there, as it seems to treat every number as a separate entry, even if they belong to a same person!!! New features you say? Let us see. Moments - now I can subscribe to a friend. Well, I would go to Facebook or other social network of my choice for that. All of the friends I want to subscribe are already there. So Skype must have tremendously good and innovative features to make them switch. Which is not the case. Ability to create chat groups? I rarely use them, and when I do I go for Line, because it has diverse and well-organized tools to manage the groups. And Skype does not. Ability to use bots? I never use them, just dont need. Resume - the new version dumped all features Skype was good about, and brought nothing I could not find elsewhere with better quality and usability.

The new tweaks are different. However getting rid of things that made Skype in the first place was a terrible idea. First, with this newest update in August 2017 - you cannot even set your status to Online, Away, etc. You also cannot see if your contacts are online or not either. A basic fundamental, is now gone. The new look is something youll have to get used to. Thats for sure. I miss the older Skype look. Giving this a two star simply because how do you forget to include to allow users to see if their contacts are online or not, or for them to set their own availability or not? Yikes.

This skype update is so horrible. It lags, etc. I hate it. Plz plz PLZZZZZ fix this. You people made nothing better. I loved it before you updated it. Please remove this version.

Everything I dont use or need in skype is so easy access I keep having to constantly back track. I love the simpler and more basic skype over the over complicated and bloated version. I just want to go back to the older one with out all the snapchat, Facebook, YouTube bells and whistles.

I have been using Skype for years. Its the best way to communicate.

I have no clue how to do anything with this update. Its so beyond horrible its a joke. Its totally broken. I dont get any notifications that someone is calling or anything. This is one of the worst updates of all time. Whoever designed this should be fired immediately. I already uninstalled and wont be back. Update: still terrible, the desktop version is really bad too now but the mobile is flaming hot garbage. Until they roll back I will not give more than 1 star for this dysfunctional crap

God awful revamp of Skype. Ive been using this app for years and its been just fine with occasional updates, but this overhaul is terrible. All contacts gone. Where is my credit? Could not log in and had to "reset" my account. Leave it to Microsoft to totally f something up. FUBAR

Can never be sure that I wont have some sort of connection glitch (occurs about a third of the time) when calling to a land line overseas. Nevertheless, its the best option Ive found for low cost connectivity from my iPhone or notepad to landlines out of country.

I recently updated my app w latest version. I see how Skype tried to be more convenient for texting but I hate that I dont see whos online currently. It would be great to have the column where all the people available for calls are listed.

Dont get the new interface. But it works better.

Current app is terrible for making calls to other lines, now you need 4 clicks just to arrive to the dialpad AND you cant access your phone contacts, only skype contacts. Terrible

This is awful! The new color scheme is useless and Skype now looks like an unprofessional mess! The elegant blue and white color scheme was simply perfect. Plus thats what Skype is known for! Even better! We cant update our status anymore. Whats up with that?!? It was great being able to update your status to what youre thinking, song lyrics, moods, etc, but they removed it... Please... Go back.... To the way Skype used to be before this update. Blue and white. Highlights? Whats with that? This is Not Instagram. Not even a social media platform. Why change it?! Why would you need followers for a communication app like this one? We dont need a following system to update our highlights when we could just update our status - but yall removed that lovely feature. If a Skype user wants to post pictures of their last get-together than they can use Instagram, Facebook, etc, not Skype. Before this update, Skype use to be a professional and simple app that can proudly be used for business. Now, Skype looks like a pre-teen mess because of the very bright colors, squiggly lines, complex features, and the new highlight feature that I noted above. UPDATE Its great that Skype added activity indicators but you still can not add a status update or mood chat whatever and you still can not change whether you want to be on Do not Disturb or Online. Idk lets say your on your phone and messages constantly are being sent to you. Rather than turn off notifications in phone settings, you should be able to go on offline mode like we were able to do previously.

I never really used skype as much because of the options out there but this new UI/UX is super suavé! Kudos to the design team.

Where can I load back my skype in previous versions? I cant use this without locating functions and cant even tell whos online who not!!!!! And all the curvy things gives me anxiety to look at. Can I give zero star? You dont improve the call quality but all these useless changes?
