Skype for iPhone App Reviews

My iphone is opening Skype application for me to use it, therefore would request a help in the incident.

STOP TRYING TO MAKE SKYPE COMPLICATED. MAKE IT SIMPLE. FOCUS!!! PHONECALLS SKYPE CALLS CHAT. END OF STORY!!! GET RID OF THE CRAP! Bring back the tabs, have 4 tabs, end of story! Your design teams dont know what theyre doing! FIX IT ALREADY!!!! REVERT THE DARN APP BACK. We need a basic simple design, REMOVE ALL THE CRAP. This is for making international phone calls and video conferencing! NOT STUPID CHILDISH SNAPCHAT CRAP!! Every time this app updates it just becomes more and MORE idiotic!! You guys need to seriously attend the WWDC, and beg Apple to show you how to design. NO SIRI SUPPORT?!!! Previous complaints: -Leave it on Online or whatever the user left it on last. -Edit numbers!!!!!! -Dont assume Im trying to call their skype username when I specifically tapped on the contacts/number -idiotic! -Layout still too complicated.

Developers listen people! Go back to old user interface! Stupid swipe left right, unused features! Stop doing crap!

Microsoft, hello? This is supposed to be Skype right? Knowing at a glance whos online / available and whos not for Video / Audio conversations and messaging across lots of devices. So this update now requires me to select someones name to see their status - wow, really? how underwhelming. Skype wasnt like that. Its supposed to be all the phone things your phone doesnt do. Competent video chat to someone on any platform, or audio just because, or text because you see theyre not available, or just because. Skype was not a dull phone, it was BETTER! Youre on the go, eyes on the road/sidewalk/crossing. A chance glance - theyre awake - options open up. You can decide, call or text because theres a better chance they might see the message, and can meet up. With this version (8? I forget) none of the above; might as well use the dull phone. Microsoft, you bought Skype because you didnt think of it, couldnt attract the users, and certainly couldnt do better. So you buy Skype, and lose all the users? Smart? No.

Can no longer send texts anymore directly to peoples phone numbers (i.e. regular old-fashion text messages). I used this feature a lot when I needed to send international texts to contacts that didnt have Skype on their phones. Put it BACK!

I just read the editors notes that talked about the intuitive design of Skype. They must have a different version than I do. I find it to be not logically laid out, tasks are hard to find and complete, and it doesnt work well with voiceover the iPhone screen reader, and every time they do a new release something else is broken. Maybe they should try to fix issues before releasing another version. It is so inaccessible for those of us who use screen readers that I cant believe apple would allow something like that in the App Store. Shame on you apple, and shame on you skype. At least you are consistent, it just keeps getting worse.

This is a great app , the only suggestion I have is being able to share a screen on mobile devices like I phone or tablet

Skype worked well and people were used to the clean and simple interface. Why change it? I already made a few accidental unintended calls because of the changed appearance. Plus, maybe its just to my taste, but this new cartoonish interface does not reflect Skype as we knew it.…

...previous functions gone, not intuitive anymore, slow performance... its already written in previous ratings... Whats the benefit of updates like this???

In the last few years, Microsoft has screwed up everything they touched. From Hotmail to Skype, these services have become unusable. Skype is now a fancy looking app that does everything except that what its suppose to do - make calls and video calls. That it doesnt do anymore. Calls have been glitchy to me for the last couple of years, so about 3 months ago I stopped using it. Today, I came back to it to check it out only because of one friend who doesnt have any other video call apps. Its a disaster. I was trying to place a call for about half an hour and the call would fail every time. The app is completely useless, Microsoft is completely useless and they should shut the company down to stop embarrassing themselves.

I dont usually bother with reviews but this is the worst upgrade ever! Bring back the last version!

The old Skype was perfect this new update looks like some stupid snap chat and texting mix

This version is sad-- someone focused too much on the front end eye candy and not at all on the actual functionality of this poor excuse for an app. None of my Skype contacts or prior chats are here. No syncing with my laptop means multiple chats going on across the different platforms...ugh- epic epic fail!

You totally blew it! I hate this evil update of Skype!!!!!! Its crap! I cant even text mobiles from my iPad. What a bunch of idiots you are! Take your themes and shove them! I want to downgrade back to its previous functionality.

Why become ANOTHER useless social media ??? Skype lost me. The app sucks, the only useful features are impossible to use ( and to find! ).

Skype has been a lifesaver when it comes to long-distance friendships and keeping in touch, but this new update makes it nearly impossible to enjoy using the app to chat. Skype has always been a simple message system for me. It was great being able to call people and chat with large groups with ease, and the one part of Skype I enjoyed most of all was the fact that skype was in the moment and not a form of social media. The new update butchered all of that. Now, skype revolves around highlights (which I do not use, nor do any of my friends) and capturing moments, which I do not want to do. I just want to chat and call. The colors and the wavy lines everywhere are an eyesore and the app itself is clunky to use. The lag is insane, and can take me up to 10 minutes under a good internet connection to send a simple hi to a group. Not to mention the fact that the send button glitches so frequently, I swear half my day is recorded in audio recording. I also end up typing the same sentence about 10 times because autocorrect refuses to help me out due to lag. I also hate that the app no longer displays online statuses, and you have to open an individual message to see anyones status. I miss the old system where everything was easy to see, easy to use, and functioned extremely well for group chats. I dont need all of these extra features, and instead of enhancing the app, theyre taking away from the basics that everyone uses skype for. The color schemes I can live with, but please take away all of the "enhanced" features and social media garbage. Update: Notifications dont even work anymore. On the slim chance that I actually can send a message and get a response, Skype wont even bother to work properly enough to send me a simple notification.

Not only do I STILL not get notifications when I have a message sometimes, with the new update (it looks awful, btw) my messages sometimes just dont send. They get stuck with the little dancing worm next to them for hours (and in one case days) at a time before sending. Restarting the app doesnt work, nor does disconnect and reconnecting to the internet and neither does resetting my phone. This is bogus. Cmon, Microsoft. Put a little more care into your products.

It seems like with this version many useful features of Skype are taken away. For example I used to be able to sort my contacts in way that I could see who is online before I bother calling, but this is not possible anymore.

Traveling internationally and Skype out saved me with a call back home!
